The Clever Crows

The Clever Crows

by Pj Miana

Crows are often thought of as annoying birds that make a lot of noise, but they are actually incredibly clever animals. Studies have shown that crows are capable of using tools and even solving puzzles.

In one study, researchers gave a group of crows a puzzle that involved dropping stones into a tube to raise the water level and obtain a reward. The crows quickly figured out how to solve the puzzle and were even able to choose the right size and shape of stones to use.

Crows are also known for their ability to use tools. In another study, researchers observed crows using sticks to extract insects from tree bark. The crows even modified the sticks by stripping them of their leaves and twigs to make them more effective at capturing insects.

Crows are also highly social animals and often form close-knit groups. They have been observed mourning the loss of their companions and even gathering in large numbers to chase off predators.

Despite their intelligence and social skills, crows are still considered pests by many people. But maybe if we took the time to appreciate their cleverness and unique personalities, we could learn to live in harmony with these fascinating birds.
